Jordan Ann Craig

The painter Jordan Ann Craig creates designs that pay homage to the patterns found in historical beadwork by Northern Cheyenne and other Plains Indian artists. After painting on canvas, Craig photographs her works in the desert landscape. She has described how this process prompted her to consider how her paintings might be read differently in varying contexts, how the changing light would interact with how a viewer understands the patterns. Inspired by the colors of the sunset along the Mississippi, this site-specific mural is the artist’s largest public work to date.
