Opening December 6, 2026 at 55 South Front Street, Memphis Art Museum brings the city’s art museum to the center of Downtown, on the Mississippi River bluff. Its galleries, rooftop art garden, theater and public spaces create a new place to experience art and spend time together. Just outside, the riverfront and neighborhoods that shaped Memphis music, photography and civic life are close at hand.

Begin at Memphis Art Museum
Give yourself time to experience MAM. Move through galleries spanning five millennia and six continents, pause at the River Window and walk the rooftop art garden above the city. Stop for coffee or a meal, then step outside to explore more of Downtown on foot.
Around the Museum
Tom Lee Park
The Mississippi River is part of the experience throughout MAM. Continue that connection outside with a walk along the riverfront to Tom Lee Park, a 31-acre public park with public art, native plantings and open views of the water.
South Main Arts District
Artists helped renew South Main in the 1990s, and the neighborhood remains one of Downtown’s centers for creative work. The district's walkable streets are home to historic buildings that house independent galleries, public art, locally owned shops and restaurants.
National Civil Rights Museum
Located at the historic Lorraine Motel in South Main, the National Civil Rights Museum traces the history of slavery and the American civil rights movement through the present day.
Beale Street
Beale Street carries Memphis’ cultural history into the present through live music, photography and the stories of the artists who changed American culture.
