Accessibility

Accessible routes connect every public level of the museum, including the mezzanine-level theater and rooftop, which includes a quarter-mile ADA-accessible walking path with places to experience art and views of Downtown Memphis and the Mississippi River.

An ADA-compliant route also leads from Front Street to the riverfront, connecting the museum, Cossitt Library, Monroe Plaza, the outdoor amphitheater and the waterfront.

For a comfortable place to pause, the Michelson Living Room offers modular ergonomic seating, natural light, acoustic treatments and views into Hyde Square.

Wheelchairs are available to borrow at no cost, subject to availability. If you would like a wheelchair brought to you when you arrive, or need help planning an accessible parking or drop-off route, please call Visitor Services at 901-544-6200. A team member will be happy to assist.

Group tours with accessibility accommodations are available by reservation. To request an accommodation or learn about services for visitors who are blind or have low vision, or who are deaf or hard of hearing, please contact Visitor Services at 901-544-6200.

If you need to view artwork from a closer distance than gallery guidelines typically allow, please contact us to discuss available options.

Advance notice is appreciated for accommodations requiring preparation or outside service providers, but it is not required to visit the museum. We will make every effort to accommodate requests received with less notice.
