Monroe Plaza is the civic commons between Memphis Art Museum and the historic Cossitt Library — a new public park along the bluff that will connect two of downtown's most significant cultural institutions for the first time. Riverfront Access
The museum, Cossitt Library, Monroe Plaza, the amphitheater, and the cobblestone riverfront below will all connect via fully ADA-accessible pathways — making this one of the only fully accessible routes to the Mississippi River in downtown Memphis. The connection extends from Front Street all the way down to the water.
A Civic Commons
Monroe Plaza is designed as a shared public space activated by both institutions. Co-hosted programming, outdoor events, and daily foot traffic between the museum and the library will make the plaza a living part of downtown.
