Skyline Park: Where the Garden Meets the River
Skyline Park is a two-acre public sculpture garden on top of Memphis Art Museum, free and open to everyone. A quarter-mile walking path winds through native plants, sculptures, and commissioned works, weaving together a series of green overlooks and gathering spaces along the bluff. It's a garden built to be lived in, where the landscape, the art, and the river all meet in one place.
The Pavilion
The enclosed Pavilion allows the rooftop to host museum programs and private gatherings throughout the year. Its glass walls open to the garden in good weather and close when the temperature drops.
A historical view
Memphis exists because of the bluff. The city's founders chose this location on the Chickasaw Bluffs specifically because the land rose high enough above the river to be safe from flooding. The opposite bank of the river has a view essentially unchanged from two centuries ago.
Art outside
Skyline Park is home to a collection of works commissioned specifically for the rooftop: two sculptures set along the walking path, a mural that brings color to the garden, and a 360-degree sign visible from the street below.
