On Saturday, May 8, Main Street belongs to fashion. The Memphis Art Museum closes the street, runs a runway down the middle of it, and the surrounding blocks come along. Designers show original collections against a backdrop no venue could build: storefronts, streetcar tracks, and a crowd that came downtown for exactly this. Shops stay open late, restaurants and bars run the night, and the show sits at the center of something much larger. When it ends, the museum is a short walk west.
